Hey my sweet friend!
I wanted to make this new lifestyle section of the blog because these are crazy times, And I wanted to let you guys in on my life. Believe it or not baking is not the only thing I do during my days.
So for the first post in the section I wanted to tell you guys how we are having fun and yet still feeling productive during this Quarantine/self distancing time.
I chose this aa the first post because I have a lot of friends that are moms as well, and they are having a hard time trying to keep themselves busy with their kids at home all day. So here are some ideas that we use here in our family every day to stay happy and productive.
So let’s get to it!
25 ways to have fun and feel good during the COVID19 Quarantine:
1. Create a schedule/Stick to a schedule.
Just because we are stuck at home does not mean we have to change everything in our day to day.
2. Create a Food Menu.
Plan out some meals ahead of time so come dinner time you’re not stumbling to find something for dinner.
3. Have at least 1 hour of outside time.
No matter the weather, we make sure that we have a minimum of 60 minutes of outside time. This helps EVERYONE.
4. Have specific times and rooms in the house for “home school” or my Work.
I personally separated my work place and the kids homework place to help us concentrate.
5. Organize drawers/closets/basements/garage.
This is the perfect time to clean out the spaces you dread seeing everyday. Spring cleaning at its finest.
6. Go on lots of walks! Get fresh air as much as possible.
Get your steps in, take some deep breaths, and clear that head of yours. Fresh air does EVERYONE good.
7. Make your beds as soon as you get up.
This wakes you up and makes everything feel a little more organized in the mornings.
8. Create something new!
Paint something, write, or find a DIY on Pinterest that you pinned.
9. Find a new podcast to listen to!
I have found a new found love for listening to podcast. There is a podcast for pretty much anything now a days. I personally love listening to: The RISE Podcast by Rachel Hollis. The GOALDIGGER Podcast by Jenna Kutcher. And CRIMEJUNKIE Podcast by: Ashley Flowers and Brit.
10. Stay in touch with friends, family, and customers.
Send texts or emails and let people know how you and your family is doing and check in on them.
11. Plant a Garden.
I LOVE gardening. It is something that I learned from my grandparents at a very young age and to this day I love it. I have 3 garden boxes that I am actually getting ready to plant this following week after the storms. In the mean time, I like to have multiple house plants as well!
12. Do an online course. Learn something new!
There bare so many things that you can learn!!! Go learn a new language or hobby.
I love taking online courses because you can take the classes on your own time and usually you have them forever once you purchase them, so you can always look back to them for references.
13. Go on a "Stay-at-home" Date!
Clean the house, light some candles, set the table and get your favorite take out or watch one of your favorite movies.
14. Explore ITunes and find new music.
This is something that I learned from one of my friends. She always has the best music and I always wondered how she found it all. And she4 told me she just sets aside 30 minutes a week to explore.
I do this every morning and night. It is something that really helps my injuries and aches, but also helps my body cool down after a busy day.
16. Write a Gratitude Journal.
I know, I know.. Everyone and their dogs are saying write a gratitude journal.. But I have to say, IT WORKS!!! Just write down ONE thing a day to start out with. I have loved doing this the past few weeks. With all of the crazy anxieties of these times, its good for our minds to remember there is still SO much good around us.
17. Clean your house Daily.
If you know me personally, you know that I am a clean freak. I always have been. I clean my house constantly. During this pandemic I recommend: wiping down commonly used surfaces, switches and knobs/handles. Sweeping and mopping once a day (or as needed) and your bathrooms at least 3 X a week. These are things that are constantly being used. Hence the need to have them cleaned often.
18. Listen to an Audiobook.
I love listening to books on Audible. They have any book you can think of. I also listen to my scriptures. Listening is so much easier for me because I don't have a lot of sit down time in a day.
19. Watch a new show that you've never seen on Netflix or Hulu.
This is an easy one. We are stuck at home. So head over to Netflix and go thru all of the amazing shows they have on there.
20. Take a long hot bath or shower.
Just like a lot of the things I have suggested, this is something I make sure I do DAILY. I make sure I put time aside even if it is so late at night. Me time is very important to me. I am constantly working or being mom and so I need this time to rest and gather myself.
21. Play Board or Card Games with the family.
Our kids absolutely love doing this. Our favorites are: Junior Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders, Uno, Guess Who, Connect Four and Operation.
22. Play with Magic Sand or Play-Doh
Its fun for the kids and adults so get a little messy sometimes and let our hands be creative! Go and create something fun.
23. Try a new hairstyle or makeup tutorial!
This is a fun one during down time because I normally have like 5 minutes to do hair and makeup before my day gets too crazy. So I have been trying this when boys are downstairs, and baby girl is napping. This just really helps you feel refreshed and pretty. (We all could use a little of that sometimes.)
24. Go online Shopping!!!
I feel like this is something super important right now. Especially shopping your small businesses! They all need a little extra support during this pandemic. So go show them some love and treat yourself to a cute new outfit or treat!
25. Put your phone on the charger in a different room and go play with your kids!
Go build a fort, Legos, play house, do something that you don't include your phones with. I promise your kids will absolutely LOVE the extra attention, and you will love it too.
I hope that some of these ideas help you thru this crazy time we are all in. One way we can help each other is by supporting our loved ones in times of need. So share these as well as your ideas that have helped you.
