THE FRENCH STYLE COOKIE WE CALL A PARISIAN MACARON, (BUT IN FRANCE IT REFERS TO ALL SORTS OF MACARONS), IS SPELLED WITH ONLY 1 "O", AND PRONOUNCED: "MAH-KAH-ROHN'. THEY ARE MADE WITH EGG WHITES, ALMOND FLOUR, AND POWDERED SUGAR.
THE AMERICAN MACAROON. PRONOUNCED 'MAH-KAH-ROON' REFERS MOST OFTEN TO COOKIES MADE WITH SWEETENED COCONUT, EGG WHITES AND SUGAR.
THEY ARE OFTEN DIPPED IN WHITE OR DARK CHOCOLATE.
WHAT SHOULD A MACARON
LOOK & TASTE LIKE?
*A SLIGHTLY SHINY, THIN SHELL WITH A SLIGHT CRUNCH THAT RESISTS TEETH FOR A SECOND WHEN YOU BITE INTO IT.
*A PROPORTIONAL, NARROW FOOT AROUND THE SHELL.
*AN INTERIOR THAT IS SOFT AND MOIST, AND SLIGHLY CHEWY.
*THEY HAVE TO LOOK PRETTY OF COURSE!!! MOST MACARONS ARE COLORED IN VARIOUS COLORS AND THAT GIVES THEM A VERY APPEALING LOOK.
* AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, MELT IN YOUR MOUTH GOOD! MACARONS CAN BE FILLED WITH SO MANY VARIOUS FILLINGS; FROM SWEET, TO SAVORY. IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE IN THE MOOD FOR.

AT MY CLASSES I GET ASKED ALL OF THE TIME:
"WHAT DO AGED EGG WHITES HAVE THAT COLD EGGS DONT?!"
A: AGED EGG WHITES HAVE A CONCENTRATED PROTEIN STRUCTURE THAT WORKS BEST WHEN FORMING THE MERENGUE THAT IS THE MACARONS WHOLE INFRASTRUCTURE.
FRESH EGG WHITES MAKE FOR A LESS SOLID SHELL STRUCTURE THAT CAN CAUSE THE SHELL TO CRACK OR TO NOT TAKE SHAPE PROPERLY.
TIP FROM THE BLONDE WHO BAKES:
*PULL OUT A COUPLE EGG WHITES 2-5 DAYS BEFORE BAKING AND LET THEM SIT AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR A MORE SMOOTHER/NICER LOOKING SHELL, AND OVERALL BETTER TASTING MACARON.
NOW GO PULL A COUPLE EGGS OUT OF THE FRIDGE, SET THEM IN A BOWL ON YOUR COUNTER FOR A FEW DAYS, AND BAKE A PRETTY BATCH OF MACARONS. IF YOU LIKE HOW THEY TURNED OUT, OR JUST ORDER SOME FROM ME, AND SHOW ME HOW MUCH YOU LIKE THEM. SEND US OVER A PICTURE OR TAG US VIA HASHTAG #THEBLONDEWHOBAKES

i recently had the opportunity to hang out with some of my favorite women here in Utah county.
Each of them are business owners and mamas. That's what I absolutely LOVE about our society today. The fact that there are so many amazing people, especially women that have the same vision of success & business as well as family as you do. And what's even more awesome, you might be able to find them in your back yard. It's amazing how many hard working women there are out there. (Props to all of you girls, mamas, & women who busy your butts every day!)
so so I got together with some women that feel exactly how I do and had a fun afternoon of photoshoots and talked about some of the awesome businesses here in Utah county.
